What is Herbal Medicine?
The roots of Herbal medicine go back thousands of years in the recorded history of the Greeks, Romans, Persians, Celts and countless other civilisations and is as old as humanity itself.
Herbal medicines have evolved alongside animal life on our planet, including humans who while living among nature have utilised natural remedies for a wide variety of issues. Knowledge was gained in many ways, often people would observe injured and sick animals and which plants they gravitate to and timings of when they do this.
Naturopathic principles have long held the goal of living in balance with nature. This hinges on the understanding the body can self-heal given ideal conditions. This includes quality nutrition, clean water, reducing stress and regular exercise to keep the body in a state of balance. This has been the same message for millennia.
India and China for example still use ancient health care systems like Ayurvedic Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine which are both thousands of years old. Practices like Acupuncture have been validated with modern scientific trials. Often traditional herbal knowledge around the world have had their usage validated with modern science.
We can combine ancient wisdom with modern science to create safe and effective natural treatments to help with a range of ailments or to simply optimise one’s health for greater wellbeing.
